Box Framing

Always made to order…

We often get asked about box frames, mostly if we sell them ready made.

We don’t sell ready made box frames but we can make a box frame to order as people tend to want different depths.

Here is a picture of an example of the kind of box frames we can make.

This example is quite deep and needs a box adding to the back of the frame.

Some examples, most of which are already shown elsewhere on the website, of box frames Gadsby’s have made for clients in recent years.

A closer look

The following images show some of the aspects of making a box frame. Much of what you see in these pictures is hidden when you look at the finished article.

As you will see there is a lot to making a box frame, there’s a lot to think about.

  • The size of the item to be framed.
  • The depth of the frame need for the item.
  • The frame to compliment the item.
  • The colour of the mount board to be used.

Here you can see there is a spacer and coloured mount board inserted around the edges of the frame to prevent the image touching the glass.

This image has 10mm of foam board under the image to give the illustration of floating.

Here you can see the two layers of 5mm foam board one on top of the other.

Once the backing board is in place it is taped down.

When the image is ready to be fitted in you can see here that the backing board will rest on the edges made up of spacer and mount board.

Place the backing board on next and it is then pinned in place.

Lastly we put framers tape on the back.

Here it is all finished

Anything is possible, please get in touch if you have an artefact which you would like to be framed.

This is the finished box-framed dream catcher which we looked at in a previous post.
